Senior Products Support Engineer

Reporting to: Executive Director of Products

Purpose

Responsible for the support and maintenance of GeoPlace Products Systems and management of products delivery. You will oversee Products delivery, provide technical support and expert co-ordination in delivery of GeoPlace Products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support and maintain existing web application systems and provide technical support.
  • Investigate and resolve technical issues related to products software system
  • Work closely with head of products management, system engineers and system testers to ensure smooth operation of production systems.
  • Ownership of products data management activities including data quality review, data completeness and data integrity.
  • Be the first point of contact for any products related issues raised by internal or external stakeholders.
  • Oversee publication activities in delivering products.
  • Represent GeoPlace, participate and provide inputs in various GeoPlace/OS Working Groups.
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders in co-ordinating delivery of products system changes/new development and managing products data quality.
  • Maintain products quality assurance by managing UAT sign-off for products changes/new development and business as usual deliverables in-line with agreed specifications.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Member of Data subgroup, participate and provide inputs in managing data quality across Address and Street products.
  • Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery - Work with colleagues to plan, document, and test Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery procedures. In the event of a declared Business Continuity incident, take responsibility for recovering business processes and systems, as directed.
  • Nurture and train direct reports in learning and understanding products data, CPD learning, developing innovative ideas in reporting and managing data statistics.
  • Support team in documenting all products publication activities and review of release notes to ensure completeness, currency, consistency and relevance.

Essential Skills

  • Ability to work well as an individual or part of the team

  • Excellent debugging and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong business application knowledge.
  • Ability to handle queries from Customers/Ordnance Survey on products data quality.
  • Ability to manage communication with internal and external stakeholders across various projects.
  • Java 11 and above
  • Spring Boot and REST API
  • Javascript or any other UI framework
  • Experience in Developing and debugging Java based Application
  • Git, BitBucket, Docker and flyway
  • Experience in using JIRA (issue and project tracking system) and Confluence
  • API and services Knowledge

Knowledge

  • Knowledge on NLPG/NSG data standards specification, Royal Mail and Valuation office datasets.
  • Good understanding of AddressBase products specification
  • Database skills (Oracle/PostGres)

The post holder will undertake other duties as appropriate to the post to support and contribute to the delivery of GeoPlace’s Vision, Mission and Objectives as described in the Business Plan.
