The appointment is in response to greater demand for IA consultancy services in the wake of continued and widespread adoption of the NLPG (National Land and Property Gazetteer) as a central source of addresses for national projects such as FiReControl and CORE (Co-ordinated On-line Record of Electors).
Wong-Moon, who is also Head of Information Systems, will now take on a more strategic role at Intelligent Addressing to advise on the creation of information systems in support of both consultancy services and internal processes relating to IA's custodianship of both the NLPG and the NSG. Recent ISO accreditation was also an important driver behind Roger's appointment. Roger recently completed his MSc in Information Systems and has worked at IA since 2002.
The NLPG is unique, the master dataset of local addresses across England and Wales with over 30 million records, which also contain objects that do not have a postal address such as public buildings (halls, recreation facilities, churches, buildings on educational and hospital campuses etc), sub-units of commercial companies, industrial sites, bus shelters, monuments, radio masts, advertising hoardings, car parks etc. The NLPG already plays a vital role in helping local government deliver joined-up and cost-effective services to citizens and is increasingly used by the emergency services for command and control applications.
