New operating model Blueprint
Graham DeAth, Programme Director, The Healthy Homes Project
Where we live impacts how we live. At the intersection of housing and health, there's a call for more analysis that can help improve living standards and well-being throughout society - and UPRNs can hold the key. Graham DeAth considers the practical implications for 'Healthy Homes', and looks at ways in which local authorities can benefit from better-integrated data sets, and actively join this Health Homes ‘conversation’ to shape a healthier future.
Building stock tools
Paul Ruyssevelt, Professor of Energy and Building Performance, UCL Energy Institute, Building Stock Lab
The existing building stock is the biggest single contributor to greenhouse gas emissions in the UK. Major efforts are required to reduce energy use and decarbonise heat supplies in some 32 million buildings. Historically, the stock has been modelled using typical examples of different types of buildings which are scaled up to national levels of energy consumption. The National Buildings Database (NBD) being developed by UCL for the government will revolutionise our understanding of the stock and enable much deeper analysis of the different pathways to net zero. Underpinning the NBD is UCL’s 3DStock model and this is also the backbone of a new online tool for assessing the future risk of overheating in homes. Both the NBD and this online tool will be presented
Driving healthy communities: alleviating congestion and minimising disruption caused by street and road works
Sam Guiver, Network Assurance Manager, Suffolk County Council
As we look at the impact of congestion and disruption caused by street and road works, we should ask - is congestion always a negative influence on society? Sam will be taking a holistic view on this topic, looking at the unexpected positives of congestion on our highways. He'll also be exploring the evolving ways in which that congestion is being mitigated when originating from street and road works.
