Surrey County Council has been successfully operating a Lane Rental Scheme since 1st April 2021, becoming the first Highway Authority to be granted such powers by the Secretary of State since the two original Pioneer Lane Rental Schemes in Kent and Transport for London. Surplus funds from Surrey's scheme operation are now available to support any project which contributes to reducing the negative impacts of works on the highway.
